Girls' Tea Party

One day for lunch, I pulled out the toy tea set that Grandma Grinnell got for the girls one Christmas and served their lunch on it. It's an easy way to dress up a normal lunch. I

cut up their PBJs in 4s, put strawberries with ReadiWhip on them, and then peanuts or something. I actually put real tea in their teapot and they all drank several cups of it!

Memorial Day with Friends

We had a great holiday weekend with a lot of friends! They drove up (despite the gas prices) from Iowa and stayed with us for the weekend. Image! 5 kids under the age of 4. We faired pretty well -- despite Ethan's teething -- and had some great times together!

The adults got to play games together after the kiddies went to bed. This is one of our favorite pastimes together. We taught them a new game: Carcassonne. And played it several nights in a row. It takes over an hour to play so we don't even bother when the kids are awake. Good fun. (We kinda wore out Catan when we went on our cruise together a few years ago.)

Following are some pictures of the kids.

And not to be out done...

Here is sweet Kristine in the same orange hat -- dressup clothes at Uncle Mike's and Aunt Debbie's house.

Don't ya think she looks like her auntie Faith?

I don't actually have a picture of my sister Faith for you to compare, but my family will be able to see the similarity -- right down to the crazy, colorful hat!
I love you, Sis!

PAN-na-no

Daddy has figured out that he likes kids a whole lot more when they can talk. But who but a parent can understand their toddler's speech? Anyone know what a "PAN-na-no" is? It's that big box against the wall that we've been storing for the Rohwer's since they started their house renovation that you can't use when the baby is sleeping. Got it? Piano.

Look out! She's mobile.

So, the littlest one can now follow me around the house. She isn't what I would call "crawling" yet, but she can scootch herself around pretty fast. She does a 2-arms-forward, push-with-legs-and-pull manuever. So we're once again having to pick things up off the floor that an infant could choke on.

At least now we don't have to bring her with us when we move from room to room in the house...because, oh how she hates being in a room alone.

The cute names kids have for toys

Well, since Dan is due back pretty soon, I had better get a second post on here! Otherwise I will be mocked endlessly. So here's a cute story about our 2-year-old.

Kyria got a birthday present from her Grandmother. It is a pillow with a cat head. It can either be opened up into a pillow or folded up in the shape of a cat. This is her "cat pillow."

Last year, Kyria got a birthday present from her other Grandmother. It is a 3-segmented toy with wheels that she can pull along behind her. It is a caterpiller.

Unfortunately, now Kyria gets the words mixed up and calls them the same thing: Cat-a-pillow.
